Submitting yourself

When submitting yourself to the major search engines, there are certain pre-requisites to take into consideration.

These considerations are not just about submitting yourself to the search engines, but ensuring that when you do, the major search engines crawl your web site successfully.

The following list outlines some of the pre-requisites you should take into account before submitting your web site: -

Check your current listings

Make sure you are not already listed in the search engines. If you are, then you may not need to keep re-submitting.

Research you keywords

Make sure your content is produced to a high degree and uses searched for keywords.

Check your cross-browser compatibility

Make sure your web site can be viewed by the majority of browsers, e.g. Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer.

Check your links

Make sure that ALL of the links within your web site are reachable. That is, make sure that all your links work correctly. If they do not and the search engines get stuck crawling your web site, then they may not list you.

Produce sitemaps (if necessary)

If your web site uses dynamic pages or a large number of pages, then it may be better for you to use and submit sitemaps to the search engines. We can produce these sitemaps for you, in XML format and others, contact us for more information.

Make sure you web site is complete

This is pretty obvious, but make sure you don´t have any Under Construction or Coming Soon web pages.

You need to keep your web site up to date and fresh. Just as the Internet evolves one would expect your web site to evolve too.

Once you have got your web site organised, submit it to the major search engines using each search engines submission page and guidelines.
